BSc Optometry, Therapeutically endorsed, FACO,
CASA Credentialed Optometrist

John completed his training in 1979 and immediately commenced private practice in Traralgon. He has provided primary eye care to families of the region since that time and as a CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) credentialed optometrist, provides eye examination for air pilots.

Some of his achievements include:

• Appointment as a teaching clinician in the Dept of Optometry, University of Melbourne 1982-1988
• Board Member of the Optometrists Assoc of Australia Victorian Division 1997- 2006
• President of the Optometrists Assoc of Australia Victorian Division
  1998-2001
• Appointed by CASA as a Designated Aviation Eye Examiner / Credentialed Optometrist since 2000
• Accredited teaching practice with Melbourne University Optometry School and Deakin University Optometry School

His great satisfaction is to work with doctors and other health care providers, bringing quality eye care to the people of Gippsland.

John's other great interest is flying. In his spare time he enjoys life as a commercial airplane pilot and flying instructor. He has held a private pilot licence since 1989 and a commercial pilot licence / instructor rating since January 2006.

B Optometry, Therapeutically endorsed

Leah graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011.  She gained her therapeutic endorsement and education in all the latest technological advancements, including ocular disease management, contact lens applications and children’s vision assessments.

Having been a practice owner and manager since 2014, Leah has expanded her knowledge and abilities to provide patients with the best solutions possible to enhance their visual experience.

Leah has spent many years co-managing patients with local Ophthalmologists including cataract surgery aftercare, glaucoma management and macular degeneration reviews.  She believes in using the most advanced technologies to detect and monitor eye diseases, giving patients the best chance of preventing vision loss.  Leah is very compassionate and is here to help her patients in any way she can.

Leah’s expertise in Children’s vision has been a welcome addition to Kay Street Eyecare.  She plans to grow the practice’s youth patient base and hopes her experience and knowledge will help fill a gap in the local optometry market.

Marie is our most loved team member who has been at Kay Street Eyecare for over 20 years. Our patients know her for for her caring service, she not only loves her job but the people she gets to see everyday.

Marie can be trusted to use her extensive optical expertise to assist patients to find the right frame or to adjust them to perfection.

Melinda has been working closely alongside our very experienced staff at Kay Street Eyecare since 2018.

Melinda has enjoyed perfecting her skills in her role as an Optical Assistant and loves the fast pace of our busy practice which sees her covering front of house work, reception, frame selection and optical dispensing.

Ashley is one of our new Optical Assistants, joining the team at Kay Street Eyecare in January 2019. Ashley has many years of experience in customer care and excels at finding the right fit for all patients, especially young children. Her warm welcoming nature ensures visiting the Optometrist is always a pleasure.

Ashley is usually seen welcoming patients at reception or in the workshop helping with frame adjustments/repairs and placing our custom orders.
