Contact lenses

Contact lenses can be worn whether you are short-sighted, long-sighted, a multifocal wearer, or wear glasses to correct astigmatism! Contacts are available in a wide range of prescriptions to accommodate a variety of lifestyles.

New lens technology has enhanced the performance of contact lenses. Modern materials now minimise the occurrence of dry eye and ensure eye comfort.

For patients who only need to wear contacts occasionally, daily disposable lenses are recommended. Each lens is designed for disposal after a day of use.

Fortnightly or monthly options are available for daily care contact lens wearers. These lenses are worn for the specific life of the lens, removed daily, cleaned and kept in contact lens solution at night.

To eliminate the inconvenience of having to remove contacts before bed, sleep-in lenses are available. They allow you to see clearly any time of the day, including first thing in the morning.

Multifocal contact lenses eliminate the need for glasses, improving the sight for patients at all distances.

Contact Lens Assessment

There are lots of reasons to give contacts a try. A Kay Street Eyecare assessment typically involves:

  • a comprehensive eye health and prescription test
  • a trial pair of contact lenses at no charge
  • a contact lens fitting and tuition to teach you the correct way to insert, remove and care for contact lenses
  • an aftercare consultation which takes place two weeks after to ensure the contact lenses are providing optimal vision and are comfortable.
Hard Contact Lenses

For some patients where there is a high prescription, significant astigmatism or corneal irregularities such as keratoconus, hard contact lenses may be more beneficial to give a clear and smooth optical surface. Your optometrist will discuss these options with you if appropriate.
